Reading with Chuckles

I have renamed my TBR Reading Challenge and changed it back to Reading with Chuckles as it sounds better, especially at times when I have no specific challenge running. So this is where I'll share what I read and abandoned each week, and I'll give the odd update on the state of my poor TBR! It does suffer at times...!

OK so in the last two weeks I tried to get a lot more reading done but with my surprise holiday, it didn't quite happen! Still, what I did read I enjoyed so that makes me feel better. I hate when I start getting stressed about my reading! I've been reading a few Coronation Street stars biographies this week.

Black Friday Fun!

So it is that time of year again-Black Friday Sales Week! Now I would rather chew on my own entrails than venture out to the shops to do battle with nutters who would kill you to get themselves a cheap TV! I avoid Boxing Day and New Years Sales and browse online instead so it won't surprise you to know that I did my shopping this weekend from the safety of my computer, using just Amazon. Besides the weather has been wild up here so there was no way I was going to do anything outside! So did you venture to the shops? Did you shop online? Did you avoid the whole thing or get some good stuff? Here is what I have ordered!

Stacking the Shelves #111

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks! Click on the link under the book to find its page on Goodreads or Smashwords.

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS or a similar third party I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. I don't allow any company access to my social media accounts and I certainly don't allow them to edit and take over my accounts. So if you use DISQUS, I can't visit you! And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress so you might get a double message sometimes! Blame them, not me!

As most of you know, I decided to take a ten day blog break. My dad had been telling me to take a break and suggested the week leading up to the Black Friday sales which sounded like a good idea. I had no idea that he had booked a winter break at a lakeside lodge in the Lake District and he sprung it on me two days before we were to leave which led to panic packing and shopping as the lodge is self catering! I thought he was mad because the UK has been hit with winter storms all month but we got lucky that last week was calm-cold but mostly dry so we got a ton of sightseeing done and it was GREAT! I'll be doing some blog posts about all the great places we visited hopefully starting tomorrow if I get caught up with all the washing and ironing!

Then when I got home yesterday it was staight on to Amazon to grab some bargains in the Black Friday sales! Ooh I got some great stuff which will be in another post maybe tomorrow. I'd saved for it all year and I'm happy with what I got! So it was an exciting homecoming and I'll be browsing all weekend in case anything else comes up!

While I was away I got a bit of reading done but not as much as I had hoped-too busy having fun though! I plan to get back to normal reading tonight now that I'm unpacked and settled in-but I had a great time and feel quite good, ready to get back into blogging! So it all worked out great! The downloads and books bought are from the days before I left for my holiday.

FOR REVIEW:

The authors saw that I had reviewed and liked a short story in the series and asked me if I would be interested in reviewing more of the series. I was excited to say yes and they kindly sent me the first three novels AND a book with all the short stories! They were so generous to send four paperbacks across the Atlantic to the UK and I can't wait to read them! Thank you very much to JW Vohs and family!

Back to the Bloggy-sphere!

I'm back from a really great break and will be blogging again from today, starting with my latest Stacking the Shelves post later this morning when I get it finished! My dad had been suggesting I take a break and thought that last week was a good time to do it. Little did I know that he again had ulterior motives and whisked me off for a surprise week's break at a lakeside lodge in the Lake District! He's getting pretty sneaky! I thought he was MAD with it being the middle of a winter storm period but we had the most AWESOME time!!! The break was just what I needed. The lodge was great, we got some brilliant sightseeing done and the weather was dry almost all week-though it was pretty damn cold! Still, if you put on warm clothes, the cold wasn't so bad. I loved it! I didn't post yesterday when we got home because I had to get online for the Black Friday Amazon sales where I spent a lot of my savings! *GULP*

I'll be doing a series of blog posts with photos of the holiday hopefully starting on Sunday and I'll be back visiting everyone this weekend!

A Short Blog Break

As I mentioned in previous posts I'm feeling a bit burned out at the moment which is why I haven't been blogging much. I've decided to take a short break from the computer just to rest, relax, recharge my batteries and get some serious reading done as I need to catch up with that. I'm perfectly ok, just a bit tired and fed up so a short break will be me good, maybe a week, ten days, we'll see how it goes.

See you all soon!

Well this week I don't seem to have had time to get much done, yet I seem to have nothing to show for it! Now THAT is annoying! I did get some reading done though so it wasn't a wasted week plus I watched a lot of Coronation Street, finishing the episodes from 1977 and going on to 1978. I'm going to take a blog break at the end of the week for a week or so to just recharge my batteries and read and relax. I feel a bit burned out so I hope this helps!
