Stacking the Shelves #46

Stacking the Shelves is a meme hosted by Tynga’s Reviews
Stacking The Shelves is all about sharing the books you are adding to your shelves, may it be physical or virtual. This means you can include books you buy in physical store or online, books you borrow from friends or the library, review books, gifts and of course ebooks!

Please note that I always leave a message on your STS/SP if you visit me, but if you use DISQUS I will not be able to leave a comment on your page. And sometimes, I have problems leaving messages on blogs hosted by Wordpress.

This week I haven't been sleeping well and I'm suffering from bad depression so it hasn't been very productive. I'm still reading the same book I started last week-The Return Man by VM Zito-which is a very good zombie apocalypse book. I've just been too darn tired to finish it! Maybe tonight eh? I have managed to watch the first two seasons of Storm Chasers and the start of season one of Ice Road Truckers. I like TV shows showing extreme jobs like gold and coal mining, driving dangerous roads, extreme fishing, oil drilling, stuff like that so TV wise it has been a good week. Had fun watching Barnyard again this morning too...jeez I love Wild Mike!!!

This weeks books are exciting! I've read the first four books in the Matt Archer series so I'm really looking forward to seeing how it all ends in  book five! I've already read the excellent Abra-Cadaver but had to grab a paperback copy which has finally been released. I've already reviewed the first two books in the Life First series and liked them so I was happy when the author, the lovely RJ Crayton asked me to review book three Third Life:Taken. If you haven't read Life First then give it a try!

So the plan for this weekend is to follow the football on Twitter, and settle down tonight to finish the book with some nice chocolate and crisps! Have a good weekend everybody!

  1. Ugh, I'm sorry you're not sleeping well. That truly sucks. I have a bit of insomnia, personally, so I get that desperate need to just sleeeep. I hope things get better. :| Glad you got some cool looking books for this week, too!

    1. I slept a bit better last night and got some reading done. So this morning I got onto a new book and read 100 pages which was a bonus! Taking advantage of my dad having a lie-in to read a review book on the computer. The depression was diagnosed in 2002 so it's good spells and bad spells. Losing my mum this summer has dropped me in a big bad spell. Still, you just take it day by day-it's all you can do! Thanks for your kind words. x

  6. Ugh, so much sympathy. My sleep/mental health is a bit up and down too, mostly 'cause I'm tapering down on my medication. It's exciting I'm coming off the meds, but the process, rar. I hope you get some good sleep, or at least get to really focus on reading and relaxing!

I'm amazed by how you always find interesting freebies. I just tend to find a ton of rubbish...

    1. It's hellish when you get the bad spells isn't it? My mum's death is triggering a lot of bad spells but the doctor says she's not greatly worried as I'm behaving normally. Not sure I've ever been normal but I'll take her word for it!

Ah the freebies! I log into Smashwords.com and use their search to find free books in my fave genres. I don't have time to troll through Amazon looking for freebies but I do get some decents recs there based on my shopping history. And I've signed up to BookBub who send you an email each day with 1-4 free/bargain books in your chosen genres and which site to get it on ie for me it's mostly Amazon. I'm picking up good ones I've never heard of before by doing that. Mind you, when I get to read them all, they might well be rubbish!

    1. It was very sweet of you to think of me...but I'm afraid I just don't have the time to go and search out all the blogs and stuff. Sorry but I'll have to decline the award. x

    2. Don't feel bad about - Most bloggers see that award as basically spam, and really annoying too... I think every single YA blogger has received that award at some point!

    3. Kind of like a blogger chain letter by the look of it. I think someone else nominated me for it last year but again it sounded so time consuming that I wasn't interested.

    1. Thanks Charlotte! I do find that reading helps-if you can get lost in a really good book, you're not thinking about the sad or bad stuff for a while. It's the same with a good film or TV show. I need to get started on a new book today!

  13. Gah, I feel you on the being tired. I struggle to sleep so much lately and then just spend my whole day feeling knackered. Hopefully we'll both be able to get some proper sleep soon.

You've got a great mix of books this week though. So hopefully you find a book you love and can't put down.
